How it works
Quick to complete.
Useful to repeat.
An InBody scan is a non-invasive body-composition assessment that gives more context than weight or BMI alone.
The scan
A 15-second test with a result sheet straight after.
- 01Stand on the device
Follow the prompts on the InBody 270 and hold the hand electrodes.
- 02Let the test complete
The actual scan takes around 15 seconds and is non-invasive.
- 03Read the report
Receive your individual result sheet and a plain-English explanation of the main measures.
What it shows
Body fat, muscle, water and more.
Your result sheet can include body weight, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, body-water measures, mineral mass, segmental lean analysis, visceral-fat level and basal metabolic rate.
Two important distinctions:
Mineral mass is an estimated body-composition measure, most of which is associated with bones and teeth. It is not a bone-density test. Visceral-fat level is a body-composition measure, not a diagnosis or medical assessment.
Repeat comparison
Similar conditions make the comparison more useful.
Food, hydration, exercise and other normal day-to-day factors can affect body-composition measurements. For repeat scans, aim for a similar time of day and similar conditions where practical.
InBody and DEXA
They are different technologies. InBody is fast, portable and practical for routine body-composition tracking. DEXA may be appropriate when a clinician has recommended bone-density testing or another clinical assessment. We do not provide medical diagnosis or clinical bone-mineral-density testing.
